Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kutaisi (14-5) against eighth ranked Mgzavrebi (5-15) on Sunday night. Visiting Kutaisi was defeated by Mgzavrebi in Tbilisi 88-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kutaisi. It looked good early as Kutaisi took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mgzavrebi took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 13 points. Mgzavrebi made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game, while Kutaisi only scored five points from the stripe. Mgzavrebi forced 19 Kutaisi turnovers. Kutaisi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Kaheem Ransom (185, college: Sam Houston St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) replied with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Kutaisi. Five Mgzavrebi and four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Mgzavrebi maintains eighth position with 5-15 record. Defending champion Kutaisi keeps the second place with five games lost. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
