An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Athens. Second ranked Panathinaikos faced 4th ranked Aris. Host Panathinaikos (19-1) defeated guests from Thessaloniki (11-9) 70-54. Panathinaikos shot 22 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Aris only scored six points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Aris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who scored 19 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Olympiacos. Aris at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Kolossos HH and PAOK. Panathinaikos is looking forward to face Apollon Patras (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Aris will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#14) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
