Regular Season Round 12: Singapore S. - Saigon H. 73-75

The most exciting game of round 12 in the ASEAN League took place in Singapore. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Singapore Singapore Slingers (11-6) to fourth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (6-8) 75-73 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 20-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Singapore Slingers outrebounded Saigon Heat 59-38 including a 25-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saigon Heat made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. American-Panamanian center Jordan Henriquez-Roberts (214-89, college: Kansas St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks. Four Saigon Heat players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import center Justin Howard (209-81, college: Mercer) added 22 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Saigon Heat maintains fourth position with 6-8 record. Singapore Slingers at the other side keep the second place with six games lost. Saigon Heat are looking forward to face bottom-ranked KL Dragons (#6) in Kuala Lumpur in the next round. Singapore Slingers will play at home against Kaohsiung (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
