Second Stage Round 4: Tabriz - Naft Abadan 108-110

The most exciting game of round 4 in the Superleague took place in Tabriz. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th ranked Tabriz (0-2) to first ranked Naft Abadan (3-1) 110-108 on Monday evening. 27 personal fouls committed by Tabriz helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Ivorian guard Doron Perkins (189-83, college: Santa Clara) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Saeed Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 35 points (!!!). A Taherkhani produced 28 points and 4 steals and Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) added 26 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Tabriz players scored in double figures. Tabriz's coach Mehran Hatami rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naft Abadan maintains first position in Group 1 with 3-1 record, which they share with Petrochimi. Tabriz at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Naft Abadan is looking forward to face Arak (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tabriz will play against Shiraz a.s Pipe and hopes to get finally their first victory.
