Regular Season Round 8: Pres.Valceslau - Sampaio 65-67

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LBF took place in Pres.Valceslau. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Pres.Valceslau (4-12) to fourth ranked Sampaio (6-10) 67-65 in the game for the fourth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But Pres.Valceslau won second period 11-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pres.Valceslau 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. The former international guard Palmira Marcal (176-84) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. International swingman Patty Ribeiro (176-90) contributed with 17 points and 4 steals for the winners. Power forward Cristiane Simoes (192-91) replied with 15 points and the former international guard Karen Gustavo (177-84) added 15 points in the effort for Pres.Valceslau. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 6-10 record. Pres.Valceslau lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. Sampaio are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Blumenau (#6) at home in the next round. Pres.Valceslau will play against the league's second-placed UNINASSAU and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
