Regular Season Round 21: Nantes - Poitiers 75-78

A very close game took place in Nantes between Poitiers and Nantes. Eleventh ranked Poitiers (10-11) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Nantes (10-11). Poitiers managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 in the game for the eighth place. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 22-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Poitiers dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Nantes' 20. The best player for the winners was naturalized Guinean swingman Sekou-Omar Doumbouya (202-0) who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Mickael Var (205-90) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Poitiers' coach Rudy Nelhomme used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Valentin Bigote (196-92) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (200-88, college: Le Moyne) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Poitiers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Nantes. Nantes lost fourth consecutive game. Poitiers will meet at home Aix-Maurienne (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nantes will play against Chorale de Roanne (#14) and hope to secure a win.
