Regular Season Round 25: Paulistano - Pinheiros 67-74

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Sao Paolo: Pinheiros (#7) and Paulistano (#10). Paulistano was defeated at home 67-74 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Pinheiros forced 22 Paulistano turnovers. Paulistano was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard George Lucas (195-96) answered with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Arthur Pecos (183-95) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Paulistano. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pinheiros maintains seventh place with 14-10 record. Loser Paulistano dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Pinheiros will have a break next round. Paulistano will play at home against Liga Sorocaba (#15) and hope to win that game.
