Regular Season Round 21: Aiolos Astakou - GS Larissas 84-69

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Aiolos Astakou (13-8) beat at home 14th ranked GS Larissas (5-16) 84-69. Aiolos Astakou dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to GS Larissas' 28. Aiolos Astakou forced 19 GS Larissas turnovers and outrebounded them 41-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The former international point guard Fanis Koumpouras (185-83) nailed 20 points and 7 assists for the winning side and forward Vassilis Kitsoulis (204-83) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Aiolos Astakou's coach Michael Koutalianos used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized Swedish guard Christian Koutras (189-88, college: Cuesta JC) came up with 13 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and Serbian guard Stefan Nikolic (193-87) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for GS Larissas in the defeat. Four GS Larissas players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Aiolos Astakou maintains fifth place with 13-8 record. GS Larissas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Aiolos Astakou's next round opponent will be higher ranked Doukas (#3) in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GS Larissas will play at home against Faros (#4) and hope to win that game.
