Regular Season Round 21: Trikalla - Promitheas 62-67

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Promitheas and 9th ranked Aiolos Trikallon had identical 8-12 record. But Aiolos Trikallon was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Patras 67-62. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-10. But Aiolos Trikallon won second period 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Lucky Jones (198-93, college: Robert Morris) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian Gilvydas Biruta (203-91, college: Rhode Island) who recorded 11 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: Long Beach St.) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Promitheas maintains eighth place with 9-12 record. Aiolos Trikallon at the other side keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Promitheas' next round opponent will be higher ranked AGOR (#7) in Rethymno and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aiolos Trikallon will play on the road against the league's leader Olympiacos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
