Regular Season Round 24: Unicaja - Joventut 77-74

Fourteenth-ranked Joventut (7-16) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Unicaja Malaga (15-7). Unicaja Malaga managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Joventut was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 34-16 third quarter run of Unicaja Malaga. They outrebounded Joventut 41-19 including a 15-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Jeffrey Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian center Dejan Musli (213-91, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Sergi Vidal (199-81) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and Serbian forward Luka Bogdanovic (206-85) added 14 points in the effort for Joventut. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Unicaja Malaga have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with FC Barcelona. Joventut at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Unicaja Malaga's next round opponent will be Movil Estudiantes (#11) in Madrid where they are favorite. Joventut will play at home against FC Barcelona (#6) and hope to win that game.
