Second Stage Round 8: AIK - Trelleborg 90-74

Rather expected game in Solna where 5th ranked Trelleborg (4-7) was defeated by second ranked AIK (10-1) 90-74 on Sunday. The game without a history. AIK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. AIK outrebounded Trelleborg 52-24 including a 34-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Trelleborg's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Jesper Eliasson (203-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Alexander Holmstrom-Forster (198-92) who added 13 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Four AIK players scored in double figures. AIK's coach Stefan Jovanovic used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Papy Ndiaye (187-94) responded with 21 points and forward Alexander Nilsson (208-90) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted AIK maintains second position in Superettan with 10-1 record having seven points less than leader IK Eos. Loser Trelleborg dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. AIK will have a break next round. Trelleborg will play on the road against the league's leader Djurgarden (#1) and hope to win that game.
