Very important is a home loss of first ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (16-4) against fourth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (8-11) on Wednesday night. Host Hong Kong ELL was defeated by Saigon Heat in a tough game in Hong Kong 92-96. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 49-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Saigon Heat made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Hong Kong ELL only scored twelve points from the stripe. Saigon Heat had a 34-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saigon Heat made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American-Panamanian center Jordan Henriquez-Roberts (214-89, college: Kansas St.) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Saigon Heat players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) produced 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import guard Tyler Lamb (196-91, college: Long Beach St.) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Saigon Heat maintains fourth position with 8-11 record. Loser Hong Kong ELL still keeps top place with four games lost. Saigon Heat will meet at home league's second-placed Singapore Slingers in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Hong Kong ELL will have a break next round.
