Second Stage Round 8: AIK - Djurgarden 74-60
Date: March 15, 2017
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Solna where second ranked AIK (10-1) won against top-ranked Djurgarden (11-1) 74-60 on Wednesday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Superettan. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-60. AIK forced 19 Djurgarden turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Olivier Ilunga (186-84, agency: Promotex) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Turkish guard Erkan Inan (195-89) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four AIK players scored in double figures. AIK's coach Stefan Jovanovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Joseph Taylor (203-85, college: Wyoming) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Serbian forward Dragan Damjanovic (203-88) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted AIK maintains second position in Superettan with 10-1 record having seven points less than leader IK Eos. Djurgarden at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top place with one game lost. AIK will have a break next round. Djurgarden will play at home against Trelleborg and hope to win that game.
