Regular Season Round 5: Panteras - Toros 103-82

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Panteras' (2-6) home victory over 5th ranked Toros (1-5) 103-82 on Friday. Panteras dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 52. They outrebounded Toros 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Luis Julio (201-80) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Elvis Burguillos (192-82) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (201-93, agency: Basket Management Solutions) produced 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Toros players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Panteras went down to fifth position due to points difference which they share with defeated Toros. Toros lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. Panteras will face league's second-placed Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toros will play on the road against Gaiteros in Maracaibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
