Regular Season Round 5: Trotamundos - Marinos 90-62
Date: March 17, 2017
Rather expected game in Valencia where 5th ranked Marinos (2-4) were rolled over by second ranked Trotamundos (5-3) 90-62 on Friday. Trotamundos made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette, agency: Pro Sports) who scored 20 points and 6 assists. Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Five Trotamundos players scored in double figures. The former international forward Juan Herrera (197-81) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Emilio Cappare (190-90) added 9 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Trotamundos maintains second place with 5-3 record having six points less than leader Bucaneros. Loser Marinos dropped to the third position with four games lost. Trotamundos will face league's leader Bucaneros in La Guaira in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marinos will play at home against Guaros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
