Date: March 17, 2017
The game in Brest supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Vitebsk (18-11) played at the court of 8th ranked Brest (4-25). Vitebsk smashed Brest 98-64. The game was mostly controlled by Vitebsk. Brest was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vitebsk forced 24 Brest turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Brest helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Russian center Marsel Ovsepyan (200-90) who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Ivan Aladko (193-95) chipped in 20 points. Four Vitebsk players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vitebsk. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Tsmoki II. Brest lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 25 games lost. Vitebsk will have a break next round. Brest will play again at home against Vitebsk (#4) and hope to win that game.
