Flames used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Northbridge 95-80 on Friday night. Strangely Redbacks outrebounded Flames 47-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. Redbacks were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Ariana Hetherington (176) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Jacinta Bourne (168-91) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals. Five Flames players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Emilee Harmon (188, college: Ohio St.) responded with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and Rebecca Benson scored 24 points. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames will face Senators (#10) in Leederville in the next round. Redbacks will play on the road against Slammers in Bunbury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
