No shocking result in a game when third ranked Leiden (16-8) beat at home 6th ranked Leeuwarden (7-17) 82-68 on Saturday. The game without a history. Leiden led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The winners were led by American forward Daviyon Draper (201-94, college: FIU) who scored that evening 16 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Rogier Jansen (188-84, agency: Court Side) supported him with 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Leiden's coach Paul Vervaeck used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by Canadian Meshack Lufile (203, college: Cape Breton) did not help to save the game for Leeuwarden. The former international point guard Dexter Hope (185-93) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Leeuwarden players scored in double figures. Leiden maintains third position with 16-8 record having six points less than leader Groningen. Leeuwarden lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Amsterdam. Leiden will meet Den Bosch (#4) on the road in the next round. Leeuwarden will play against Rotterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
