Regular Season Round 24: Univ.Burgos - Pielagos 64-117

Very expected game when 11th ranked Univ.Burgos (7-14) was rolled over at home by seventh ranked Pielagos (11-10) 117-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Pielagos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Univ.Burgos' 38. They outrebounded Univ.Burgos 37-26 including 22 on the defensive glass. Pielagos shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Univ.Burgos was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard David Garcia (192-80) who scored 26 points. Naturalized Ukrainian center Volodymyr Orlov (208-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Five Pielagos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Alvaro Lombera (202-84) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jonathan Vivar (190-93) added 9 points respectively. Univ.Burgos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Pielagos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position in Group A-A with 11-10 record. Newly promoted Univ.Burgos keeps the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Pielagos will face league's second-placed Cantbasket in Santander in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Univ.Burgos will play on the road against Easo (#3) in San Sebastian and hope to win that game.
