Regular Season Round 5: Toros - Panteras 90-71

Date: March 18, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Maracay where 4th placed Panteras (2-6) were crushed by fifth ranked Toros (1-5) 90-71 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC, agency: Basket Management Solutions) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (201-93, agency: Basket Management Solutions) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American guard Kareem Canty (185-93, college: Auburn) produced 13 points and 4 assists and forward Jose Manaure (193-87) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toros maintains fifth place with 1-5 record which they share with defeated Panteras. Loser Panteras dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Toros will face higher ranked Gaiteros (#3) in Maracaibo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panteras will play at home against the league's second-placed Gigantes and hope to win that game.
