Regular Season Round 23: Poitiers - Boulazac 66-89

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Boulazac Basket and 10th ranked Poitiers had identical 11-11 record. But Poitiers was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Boulazac 89-66 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-66. Boulazac Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Poitiers' 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Poitiers' players. American power forward Jarvis Williams (198-93, college: Murray St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Arnaud Kerckhof (193-84) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Boulazac Basket players scored in double figures. American point guard Jay Threatt (180-89, college: Delaware St.) answered with 14 points and 4 assists and Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Poitiers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Boulazac Basket (12-11) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Poitiers keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Boulazac Basket will face Nantes (#6) at home in the next round. Poitiers will play against ALM Evreux (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
