Date: March 18, 2017
There was no surprise in Madrid where 14th ranked Torrelodones (4-18) was edged by eighth ranked Gran Canaria B (14-10) 72-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 25-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Torrelodones outrebounded Gran Canaria B 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian center Rokas Gadiliauskas (205-98) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Saulo Roman (186-98) chipped in 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian forward Lazar Mutic (197-99) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian center Almir Hadzisehovic (203-92, college: Alaska-Fairb.) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Torrelodones' coach Dani Gomez tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gran Canaria B moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Villarrobledo. Loser Torrelodones keeps the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Gran Canaria B will face higher ranked Tenerife Naut. (#6) in Santa Cruz in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Torrelodones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Estudiantes B.
