Regular Season Round 24: Olivar - AEC Collblanc 77-60

There was a small surprise in Zaragoza where ninth ranked Olivar (9-12) defeated 7th ranked AEC Collblanc (10-10) 77-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Olivar. AEC Collblanc was better in fourth quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AEC Collblanc to just 6 points in third quarter. Olivar dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to AEC Collblanc's 26. They outrebounded AEC Collblanc 41-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Unai Mendicote (196-99) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Czech swingman Simon Pursl (203-97) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Roger Juan (200-82) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Josep-Maria Guzman (182-84) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Olivar have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position in Group C-A with 9-12 record, which they share with Sant Nicolau. AEC Collblanc lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Olivar will face league's leader Calvia on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
