Regular Season Round 19: Proteas - Kronos AD 79-60

Very expected game in Voula where 11th ranked Kronos AD (3-16) was rolled over by fourth ranked Proteas (12-6) 79-60 on Sunday. Proteas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kronos AD's 32. They outrebounded Kronos AD 31-18 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Proteas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Anna Spyridopoulou (184-88) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Canadian-Serbian forward Stephany Skrba (188-87, college: Michigan) helped adding 22 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side the former international guard Aikaterini Spatharou (172-83) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and Sofia Kyriakopoulou scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Proteas. They moved-up to third place. Loser Kronos AD keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Proteas will meet Niki Lefkadas (#6) on the road in the next round. Kronos AD will play against the league's second-placed Athinaikos (#2) and hope to secure a win.
