Very predictable result in Reggio Calabria where second ranked Tortona (17-8) defeated 14th ranked Viola RC (7-18) 78-68 on Sunday. They outrebounded Viola RC 38-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Viola RC was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Glenn Cosey (183-92, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four Tortona players scored in double figures. Tortona's coach Demis Cavina used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American-Danish guard Alan Voskuil (191-86, college: Texas Tech) responded with 36 points (!!!) and point guard Riccardo Rossato (190-96, agency: Players Group) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Tortona maintains second place in A2 with 17-8 record having just two points less than leader Angelico Biella. Loser Viola RC dropped to the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Tortona will face Agrigento (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Viola RC will play against Treviglio (#6) and hope to win that game.
