Regular Season Round 25: L'Hospitalet - Lucentum 66-70

Very expected game when 12th ranked L'Hospitalet (9-16) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Meridiano Alicante (17-9) 70-66 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But L'Hospitalet won second period 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meridiano Alicante made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Point guard Alvaro Lobo (192-92, agency: Duran International) stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and power forward Guillermo Rejon (206-77) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Lobo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Meridiano Alicante players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Gabriel Diaz-Morera (196-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Javi Rodriguez (202-92) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Meridiano Alicante maintains fourth place with 17-9 record. Newly promoted L'Hospitalet keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face higher ranked CB Granada (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. L'Hospitalet will play against Zornotza (#10) in Amorebieta-Echano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
