Quarter-Finals Round 2: Thor Thorl - Grindavik 90-86
Date: March 19, 2017
Thor Thorl held off Grindavik to even the series at 1-1. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Grindavik won third quarter 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) notched 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and guard Halldor Hermannsson (188-97) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) did not help to save the game for Grindavik. The former international forward Omar Saevarsson (198-82) added 15 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Four Thor Thorl and five Grindavik players scored in double figures.
