Regular Season Round 23: Hapoel J-M - Ironi Nahariya 91-80
Date: March 19, 2017
Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (13-10) beat at home 8th ranked Ironi Nahariya (10-13) 91-80. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Jerusalem. Ironi Nahariya was better in third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Jerusalem players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The former international point guard Bar Timor (190-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ironi Nahariya. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hapoel Jerusalem moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nahariya at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Galil Gilboa and Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Maccabi Rishon (#9) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ironi Nahariya will play at home against Maccabi Haifa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
