Regular Season Round 25: Joventut - FC Barcelona 56-76

There was no surprise in Badalona where 16th ranked Joventut (7-17) was crushed by sixth ranked FC Barcelona (16-7) 76-56 on Sunday. FC Barcelona dominated on the defensive end, holding Joventut to just 6 points in third quarter. They also forced 19 Joventut turnovers and outrebounded them 35-19 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for FC Barcelona especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88) fired 19 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Greek Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) chipped in 19 points. International swingman Alberto Abalde (202-95) produced 9 points and point guard Albert Sabat (181-85) added 6 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona moved-up to third place, which they share with Real Madrid and Baskonia. Loser Joventut keeps the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. FC Barcelona will face Andorra (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Joventut will play against Sevilla (#13) and hope to win that game.
