Very important is a road loss of second ranked Gigantes (5-3) against fifth ranked Panteras (3-7) on Thursday night. Visiting Gigantes were defeated by Panteras in Caracas 82-66. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Gigantes' players. American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) notched 22 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Luis Julio (201-80) supported him with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) did not help to save the game for Gigantes. Forward Albert Arias (194-89) added 8 points and 14 rebounds. Gigantes' coach Curro Segura rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Panteras maintains fifth position with 3-7 record. Loser Gigantes keep the second place with three games lost. Panteras will meet higher ranked Guaiqueries (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gigantes will play against Toros and hope to secure a win.
