Regular Season Round 6: Marinos - Guaros 86-91

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Guaros (2-4) beat one of their biggest challengers Marinos (3-5) in Puerto La Cruz 91-86 on Thursday. Guaros outrebounded Marinos 36-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Marinos were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American Lazar Hayward (225-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 25 points for the winners. American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) replied with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) added 14 points in the effort for Marinos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guaros moved-up to fourth place. Loser Marinos dropped to the third position with five games lost. Guaros will face league's leader Bucaneros in La Guaira in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Marinos will play on the road against Gaiteros in Maracaibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
