Everything went according to plan when second ranked Burgos (20-9) beat at home 15th ranked Barca II (9-20) 85-77 on Friday. Center Javier Vega (205-88) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Croatian power forward Filip Toncinic (212-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Dominican swingman Dagoberto Pena (198-88, college: Marshall, agency: Duran International) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Aleix Font (192-98) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Burgos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Gipuzkoa GBC lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Barca II dropped to the sixteenth place with 20 games lost. Burgos will face Ourense (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Barca II will play against Caceres Basket (#11) and hope to win that game.
