Date: March 24, 2017
Very significant was DELTA's (#1, 8-2) victory against their biggest opponent Hyundai-TSU (7-3) 65-59. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Hyundai-TSU won third quarter 16-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. DELTA forced 19 Hyundai-TSU turnovers. Forward Irakli Alkhanaidze (202-92) notched 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Kelvin Downs (206, college: Arkansas St.) supported him with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Even 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals by American point guard Christopher Anderson (170-92, college: San Diego) did not help to save the game for Hyundai-TSU. Point guard Sandro Sanadze (188-95) added 21 points for lost side. DELTA have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted DELTA maintains first position with 8-2 record. Hyundai-TSU at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. DELTA will play against Arena-76 (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hyundai-TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi SEU Tbilisi.
