Regular Season Round 24: Lille - Provence Basket 62-48

Date: March 24, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Lille. Third ranked host Lille Metropole (15-9) defeated second-best Provence Basket (16-8) 62-48. It looked good early as Provence Basket took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lille Metropole had a 22-11 second period charge getting the lead and Provence Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 48-62. Lille Metropole dominated on the defensive end, holding Provence Basket to just 7 points in fourth quarter. The winners were led by naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) who scored that evening 13 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Thomas Ceci-Diop (199-92) supported him with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Lille Metropole players scored in double figures. Lille Metropole's coach Neno Asceric allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by American swingman Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle) did not help to save the game for Provence Basket. His fellow American import center Brad Waldow (208-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Lille Metropole have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-9 record having just two points less than leader Bourg. Provence Basket at the other side keeps the second place with eight games lost. Lille Metropole will play against bottom-ranked JA Vichy (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Provence Basket will play against Saint-Quentin (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
