Regular Season Round 23: Sokhumi - Kutaisi 65-81

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tbilisi. Second ranked Kutaisi faced 4th placed Sokhumi. Guests from Kutaisi (16-6) defeated host Sokhumi (9-14) 81-65. The game without a history. Kutaisi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Kutaisi outrebounded Sokhumi 44-25 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international Beka Bekauri (207-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) helped adding 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Power forward Oleksandr Tishchenko (205-89) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Azerbaijani forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-6 record having seven points less than leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Sokhumi lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Cactus Tbilisi. Kutaisi will meet at home Energy Invest (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
