Regular Season Round 30: Lourdes - Orchies 70-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (17-13) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Orchesien BC (17-13) 77-70 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lourdes-Tarbes won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Orchesien BC dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Lourdes-Tarbes' 34. Orchesien BC had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. American Marquise Simmons (203-89, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Orchesien BC players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-88, college: Moraine Valley CC) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Mantas Kazonas (202-89) scored 17 points. Orchesien BC moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lourdes and GET Vosges. Orchesien BC will face Lorient (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against Angers BC (#15) and hope to win that game.
