Regular Season Round 49: Tochigi Brex - Sendai 89ers 71-49
Date: March 26, 2017
Very expected game when 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (12-35) were crushed on the road by first ranked Tochigi Brex (38-9) 71-49 on Sunday. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. They maintain first place with 38-9 record. Sendai 89ers lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 35 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play at home against Hokkaido L. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
