Regular Season Round 7: Guaiqueries - Panteras 92-73

Rather predictable result in Porlamar where third ranked Guaiqueries (6-6) smashed 5th ranked Panteras (3-9) 92-73 on Sunday. Guaiqueries made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Devan Downey (175-87, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Kareem Canty (185-93, college: Auburn) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guaiqueries moved-up to second place, which they share with Trotamundos. Loser Panteras keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Guaiqueries will face Toros (#5) in Maracay in the next round. Panteras will play at home against the league's second-placed Trotamundos and hope to win that game.
