Regular Season Round 7: Guaros - Bucaneros 92-90

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Bucaneros (8-6) in Barquisimeto on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Guaros (3-5) 92-90. Guaros dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Bucaneros' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Bucaneros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 4 assists. International center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Guaros and four Bucaneros players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third place with 3-5 record having sixteen points less than leader Bucaneros, which they share with Marinos and Gaiteros. Bucaneros at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. Guaros is looking forward to face league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bucaneros will play on the road against Marinos in Puerto La Cruz and are hoping to win this game.
