Regular Season Round 26: Zamorano - Alcazar 70-65

Bottom-ranked Zamorano managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Zamorano won against ninth-ranked Alcazar 70-65. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But Alcazar won second period 20-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zamorano made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Zamorano outrebounded Alcazar 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Cameroonian center Johan Bitjaa (207-93, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. French point guard Sango Niang (183-93, college: Simon Fraser) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists and forward Ignacio Diaz (200-87) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Alcazar. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zamorano (7-19) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Gandia. Alcazar at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Zamorano will play against Gandia (#15) on the road in the next round. Alcazar will play against Moron (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
