Leader Sammic ISB delivered the twentieth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Blancos de Rueda (14-12) 88-84 in Azpeitia. Blancos de Rueda trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 23-11 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 84-88 at the end of the game. Sammic ISB made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American forward Tim Dezelski (198-90, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand center Mike Karena (208-93, college: Wright St.) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Sammic ISB players scored in double figures. Center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sammic ISB (20-6) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Loser Blancos de Rueda keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Sammic ISB will meet L'Hospitalet (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Blancos de Rueda will play against Albacete (#16) and hope to secure a win.
