Regular Season Round 7: Guaiqueries - Panteras 102-89

Rather expected game in Porlamar where 5th ranked Panteras (3-9) were defeated by third ranked Guaiqueries (6-6) 102-89 on Monday. Guaiqueries made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Guard Devan Downey (175-87, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 23 points and 7 assists. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Guaiqueries' coach Oscar Silva used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Kareem Canty (185-93, college: Auburn) scored 21 points. Guaiqueries moved-up to second place, which they share with Trotamundos. Loser Panteras keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Guaiqueries will face Toros (#5) in Maracay in the next round. Panteras will play at home against the league's second-placed Trotamundos and hope to win that game.
