A very close game took place in Afula between Hapoel Afula and Galil Elion. Ninth ranked Hapoel Afula (12-13) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked Galil Elion (10-15). Hapoel Afula managed to escape with a 3-point win 96-93 in the fight for the ninth place. Hapoel Afula looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Demetrius Treadwell (201-91, college: Akron) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Orel Lev (195-93) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American forward Cinmeon Bowers (201-93, college: Auburn) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Hapoel Afula and four Galil Elion players scored in double figures. Galil Elion's coach Avishay Gordon rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Afula maintains ninth place with 12-13 record. Galil Elion lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Hapoel Migd.H. and Hap.Haifa. Hapoel Afula will meet higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galil Elion will play against Maccabi Rehovot (#7) and hope to secure a win.
