Regular Season Round 25: Start Lublin - MKS DG 78-77

A very close game took place in Lublin between Start and MKS Dabrowa Gornicza. Fourteenth ranked Start (8-19) got a very close home victory over higher ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (15-12). Start managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Start made 10 blocks. American power forward Jason Boone (203-85, college: New York U., agency: Three Eye Sports) fired 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import guard Nicholas Covington (188-85, college: Oklahoma City) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Covington is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Start's coach David Dedek used entire bench in such tough game. American Jeremiah Wilson (205-88, college: Tarleton St.) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Ukrainian Vitaliy Kovalenko (204-84) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Start maintains fourteenth place with 8-19 record, which they share with AZS Koszalin. Loser MKS Dabrowa Gornicza dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Krosno and PGE Turow. Start will meet at home higher ranked BM Slam Stal (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will play against Wilki Morskie (#11) and hope to secure a win.
