Regular Season Round 29: Lietkabelis - Siauliai 80-85

The game between third ranked Lietkabelis (21-9) and tenth ranked Siauliai (4-26) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Lietkabelis was defeated by Siauliai in a tough game in Panevezys 80-85. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Lietkabelis won second period 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Lietkabelis turnovers. American point guard PJ Hill-Jr (182-87, college: Ohio St., agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 16 points and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and Ukrainian center Vladislav Korenyuk (210-94, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Hill Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. The former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) scored 15 points and 6 assists. Lietkabelis' coach Kazys Maksvytis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai maintains tenth place with 4-26 record. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Siauliai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lietkabelis will play again on the road against Siauliai and is hoping to win this game.
