Finals Game 1: Valur - Hamar 101-73

Date: March 30, 2017
Valur cruised past Hamar in the Finals opener. The game without a history. Valur led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valur outrebounded Hamar 49-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Hamar's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Valur made 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) contributed with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Valur players scored in double figures. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and guard Erlendur Stefansson (190-95, college: Black Hills St.) added 15 points (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Hamar. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
