Regular Season Round 8: Panteras - Trotamundos 81-82

Fifth-ranked Panteras (3-11) made lots of trouble for second ranked Trotamundos (8-6) in Caracas. The visitors from Valencia managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panteras won third quarter 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trotamundos made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) saved the victory by scoring 28 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Forward Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and power forward Anthony Kent (208-83, college: Ball St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Panteras. Trotamundos maintains second position with 8-6 record having eight points less than leader Bucaneros, which they share with Guaiqueries. Panteras lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Trotamundos will play against Toros (#5) in Maracay in the next round. Panteras will play on the road against Guaros in Barquisimeto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
