Regular Season Round 8: Cocodrilos - Guaros 89-81

There was no surprise in Caracas where 3rd ranked Guaros (4-6) were defeated by first ranked Cocodrilos (14-2) 89-81 on Friday. Cocodrilos made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Miguel Paul (185-90, college: E.Carolina) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. Jose Rodriguez (197-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. International Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) produced 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American Lazar Hayward (225-86, college: Marquette) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Cocodrilos and four Guaros players scored in double figures. Guaros' coach Jorge Arrieta let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-2 record. Defending champion Guaros keep the third place with six games lost. Cocodrilos will face Marinos (#4) in Puerto La Cruz in the next round. Guaros will play at home against Panteras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
