Regular Season Round 25: Nantes - Charleville 68-79
Date: March 31, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Nantes (12-13) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Charleville-Mezieres (14-11) 79-68 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Charleville-Mezieres. Nantes managed to win second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nantes to just 7 points in third quarter. American guard Jordan Fouse (201-94, college: Green Bay, agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Charleville-Mezieres' coach Cedric Heitz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American Christopher McKnight (201-87, college: Akron, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (200-88, college: Le Moyne) scored 17 points. Charleville-Mezieres moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Le Havre and Blois. Loser Nantes dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Denain. Charleville-Mezieres will meet at home league's leader JL Bourg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nantes will play against ALM Evreux (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
