Regular Season Round 25: Poitiers - Roanne 85-68

Date: March 31, 2017
Very predictable result when eighth ranked Poitiers (13-12) beat at home 15th ranked Chorale de Roanne (10-15) 85-68 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-68. Poitiers forced 21 Chorale de Roanne turnovers and outrebounded them 32-19 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Chorale de Roanne's players. American swingman Drake Reed (194-87, college: Austin Peay St., agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Jay Threatt (180-89, college: Delaware St.) chipped in 6 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side point guard Arthur Rozenfeld (178-95) responded with 24 points and American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Poitiers moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Evreux and Boulazac. Loser Chorale de Roanne dropped to the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Maurienne and St Chamond. Poitiers will meet Saint-Quentin (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Chorale de Roanne will play against SPO Rouen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
